Security Studies by Distance Learning - online study at postgraduate level.
Enrolment is now open for September 2014 entry to the postgraduate course in Security Studies from London Metropolitan University which is studied by part-time distance learning. This flexible programme for professionals gives you the opportunity to gain a university degree at either Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Master of Science (MSc) level.
Delivered by leading academics in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and staff of the renowned John Grieve Centre for Policing and Community Safety at London Metropolitan University, with enrolment and delivery assisted by IBC Academy, the course is studied 100% by online distance education. The programme is carefully designed to give insight into the emerging paradigms within security studies, security and intelligence, including the historical background, contemporary issues and future strategies of global security. The PGCert Security Studies comprises three modules:
1. Security Studies 2. Intelligence Analysis 3. Contemporary Issues in Crime, Safety and Security
The PGDip Security Studies comprises the above three modules plus the following three modules:
4. Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism 5. Strategic Change in the Global Environment 6. International Financial Crime and Security
The MSc Security Studies comprises the above six modules plus tuition in research methodology and a dissertation of approximately 15,000 words.
Students may enrol straight on to the MSc programme, or elect to just study to PGDip or PGCert level. Students who elect to study a lower qualification of PGCert or PGDip may choose to re-join the programme at a future intake and complete additional studies to gain a higher academic award.
The MSc / PGDip / PGCert is an excellent preparation for many careers in the civil and foreign service, non-governmental and international organisations, the private sector and in academic research.
